The original bathroom no longer reflected the way the homeowners wanted to begin and end their day. It felt cluttered and obstructed, with a layout that limited both movement and comfort. What should have been a place to reset instead felt visually busy and disconnected, lacking the calm and clarity the space needed.
The vision was to create a more open and inviting environment, one that could support both energy in the morning and relaxation at night. A steam shower became a central goal, along with a layout that felt expansive and easy to use.
The reimagined layout transforms the bathroom into a space that can be comfortably used by two people at the same time. Circulation was simplified, and each element was positioned to support a more natural daily rhythm. The new linear double vanity replaces the previous separation, creating both visual continuity and practical efficiency.
Functionality extends beyond layout into the experience of the space itself. The steam shower offers a place to unwind and restore, while improved ventilation and natural light enhance comfort throughout the day. Thoughtful planning ensures that every feature contributes to a space that feels intuitive, open, and easy to live in.

One of the most defining aspects of this project was the homeowner’s eclectic design sensibility. Blending different materials, colors, and influences required a careful balance to ensure the space felt intentional rather than overwhelming. Each selection was made with that balance in mind, allowing contrast and harmony to exist together.
Natural textures play a key role in grounding the design. Tile selections, natural hickory cabinetry, and green café countertops come together to create a layered yet cohesive palette. Personal elements, including the jade Quan Yin statue, were thoughtfully integrated into the design, giving the space meaning while reinforcing its unique identity.
The success of the space lies in the details, where craftsmanship and thoughtful design solutions come together. The arched tiled ceiling in the steam shower is both a functional and aesthetic feature, designed to prevent condensation while adding architectural interest. Custom elements throughout the space ensure a seamless and refined finish.
From hand-mortised hardware to the careful integration of the tub deck into the window sill, each detail reflects a high level of precision. Even behind the scenes, complex challenges such as relocating plumbing and accommodating the steam system were thoughtfully resolved. The result is a space that feels effortless, supported by craftsmanship that is both visible and unseen.

The bathroom now feels open, calm, and easy to move through. What was once a cluttered and constrained space has become a place that supports both routine and rest.
The design brings together a range of influences while maintaining a sense of clarity. The result is a space that feels both personal and cohesive. It’s a thoughtful transformation that not only improves function, but also creates a more restorative experience at the beginning and end of each day.
