From Outdated to Outstanding

Imagine transforming a dated kitchen with limited storage and inefficient flow into a luxurious, functional space that perfectly blends modern convenience with classic Tudor Revival charm. This project wasn’t just a renovation—it was a complete reimagination of the heart of the home.

A bright, modern kitchen with white cabinets, fresh produce, and a cozy dining area featuring a chandelier and wine bottle on the table.

Introduction

Our clients desired a kitchen that provided ample counter space, organized storage, and a seamless luxury appearance. The project involved eliminating an outdated glass sunroom and expanding the kitchen with a design that embraced the home’s American Tudor Revival style. By refining the layout and incorporating high-end finishes, we created a space that is both elegant and practical.

The Vision

The goal was to create a kitchen that felt cohesive with the existing home while enhancing its functionality. Key design priorities included:

  • A bright, spacious kitchen with abundant counter space and efficient storage.
  • A layout that improved traffic flow between the dining room and kitchen.
  • Seamless built-in appliances to maintain a streamlined aesthetic.
  • Elegant finishes, including aged brass fixtures and custom cabinetry, to enhance the home’s character.
The Process

Design & Planning:

  • Developed a new kitchen layout that expanded functionality and storage.
  • Relocated and widened the entrance to the dining room for improved flow and openness.
  • Selected a neutral color palette with contrasting red oak flooring for timeless elegance.

The Process

Structural Enhancements:

  • Removed the old sunroom to maximize usable space.
  • Installed new Marvin windows with leaded tape to match the home’s Tudor aesthetic.
  • Integrated a custom-built range hood with a stained red oak mantel to tie in architectural details.

Before & After

Before

The original kitchen presented several challenges:

  • A cramped layout with multiple doorways that restricted movement.
  • Dark and outdated materials that made the space feel unwelcoming.
  • Limited counter space, particularly around the range, making meal prep difficult.
  • Mismatched flooring and a lack of architectural cohesion with the rest of the home.

After

The kitchen transformation brought in light, elegance, and improved functionality. Key highlights include:

  • A spacious new kitchen footprint with organized cabinets, wide drawers, and hidden appliances.
  • An elegant aesthetic featuring matte ivory cabinets, quartz countertops, and a ceramic tile backsplash.
  • Enhanced lighting, both natural and artificial, to brighten the entire space.
  • Thoughtful design choices, like built-in storage solutions and a relocated refrigerator, creating a seamless and practical kitchen environment.
Outcome & Client Impact

This project successfully turned an outdated kitchen into a dream culinary space that meets both functional and aesthetic needs. The improved layout, high-end finishes, and architectural cohesion with the home’s Tudor Revival style have significantly enhanced daily living and long-term home value.

“From the very start, this team understood our vision and executed it flawlessly. Our new kitchen is not just a place to cook—it’s a space where we gather, entertain, and truly enjoy our home. We couldn’t be happier with the transformation!”
