For this Brookfield family, the kitchen had long been a source of frustration. The dated design, limited storage, and dark, cramped layout made everyday cooking and family time feel more like a challenge than a joy. They dreamed of a kitchen that would be both a practical workspace and the heart of their home—a place to prepare meals, help their kids with homework, and host family and friends with ease.
From the start, the goal was clear: to create a kitchen that would serve multiple purposes, including cooking, gathering, and supporting everyday family life. At the heart of the new space is an expansive 11-foot island, where meals are prepared, homework is completed, and guests can gather without crowding the cook.
Removing the original island allowed for a circular first-floor flow, which resolved the traffic bottlenecks that had existed in the past. Custom cabinetry provides the storage the family previously lacked, and the refined white finishes offer a clean, classic backdrop that can adapt to changing décor over the years.

To support the family’s needs, every material was chosen with intention. Quartz countertops provide durable, low-maintenance beauty. Luxury vinyl plank flooring withstands daily wear from children and pets without sacrificing style. LED recessed lighting and pendant fixtures illuminate work zones and offer flexibility in both mood and ambiance.
Cabinetry from Plato Woodwork extends to the ceiling, replacing soffits with polished finishes and additional storage. Soft, neutral tones throughout the space keep the kitchen bright and welcoming at all times of day.
This transformation was not without its challenges. Removing a 23-foot section of wall and supporting the second floor required precision engineering and the installation of a 1,600-pound steel I-beam, which was lifted into place by crane in order to achieve a flush ceiling and seamless finish. All of this was managed during the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, requiring thoughtful communication, careful coordination, and unwavering attention to safety. The result is a testament to both superior craftsmanship and the dedication of the entire remodeling team.

This kitchen is not just larger, it is better in every way. Brighter, more welcoming, and designed for everyday living, the space now supports every stage of family life, from early mornings to late-night snacks and from busy weekdays to quiet weekends.
By choosing to remodel rather than relocate, the homeowners gained not only additional square footage but also renewed joy in the home they already loved. This kitchen now serves as the heart of the house and will be the setting for many meaningful moments in the years to come.
