Project Year: 2023
Location: Brookfield
Updates Included: Remodel
Rooms: Bathrooms and Fireplace
Features:
The homeowners had lived with their original 1996 French Country interiors for years, but the spaces no longer supported how they wanted to live. The bathrooms felt enclosed, cold, and outdated, while the fireplace lacked the presence expected in the home’s main gathering space.
They envisioned something more open, more comfortable, and better suited for the future. Spaces that would support aging in place without sacrificing beauty. Spaces that would feel just as inviting at the start of the day as they would at the end.
Function guided every decision in the bathrooms. Curbless showers, integrated safety bars, and handheld fixtures were thoughtfully incorporated to support long-term use while maintaining a refined aesthetic.
Heated floors extend throughout the bathrooms, including into the showers and seating areas, solving the issue of cold surfaces. A soaking tub, positioned to feel open and accessible, has become part of the homeowners’ daily routine.
Storage and usability were also improved, with vanity drawer outlets and a reconfigured pocket door creating smoother movement through the space.

The transformation balances warmth and simplicity, with updated finishes, textures, and materials that bring a fresh interpretation of French Country style without feeling overly ornate.
In the primary bathroom, Cambria Whitehall shower slabs extend to the ceiling, creating clean lines and a sense of height. Custom wainscoting and tailored cabinetry add depth, while the soaking tub becomes a focal point framed by natural light.
Achieving the final result required careful coordination and precision at every stage. Custom cabinetry, woodwork, and wainscoting were fabricated and installed to create a cohesive and seamless finish throughout the home.
Advanced systems support both performance and comfort. A Schluter waterproofing system enables curbless showers, while Ditra Heat keeps surfaces consistently warm. Diamond Fusion coating reduces maintenance, and window film was applied to meet code requirements without replacing existing glass.
Structural modifications were also required, including reinforcing floor joists and supporting the weight of the limestone fireplace surround.

What were once cold, enclosed, and dated spaces are now warm, open, and thoughtfully designed for daily living. The bathrooms support both comfort and independence, while the fireplace now anchors the home with quiet confidence.
The result is a home that feels more aligned with how the homeowners live today and how they will continue to live in the years ahead.
