S.J. Janis Wins 4 Gold Awards at the Wisconsin Remodelers Awards

S.J. Janis Company, local Wauwatosa home remodeler, received four gold awards at the Wisconsin Remodeler of the Year, WRA Awards on Friday, January 15, 2016. This is the 27th consecutive year S.J. Janis Company has won an award in the WRA competition, the only company to be so recognized in each year of the Milwaukee/NARI award competition.

“Out of 27 years at the WRAs, this was our best year ever with gold awards for each of our entries,” said Gary Sannes, S.J. Janis Company President. “The results of our team’s hard work over the last year produced spectacular kitchens and home additions for great clients of ours.”

The Residential Kitchen $60,001 – $100,000 Gold Award winner was a Wauwatosa Georgian Colonial home that was in need of a remodel to that stayed true to the style of the home and was great for cooking. The previous kitchen had a broken stove, inefficient storage, high maintenance finishes, and lacked simplicity. Now after the remodel there is improved circulation from the kitchen into the dinette for entertaining family and friends. Lighting was vastly improved and now highlights the coffered ceiling, subway tile backsplash, and cabinetry. A built-in hutch with lighting was incorporated to store glasses and provide convenient counter space. An ebony-stained hardwood floor adds the final touch.

The Residential Kitchen $100,001 – $150,000 Gold Award winner featured a Whitefish Bay home that captured the homeowners Far East style from frequent travel overseas. A large zebra wood island is the center of attention, providing circular traffic flow and incredible wood grain patterns. Oxford gold granite countertops complement the custom cinnamon-stained cabinetry and field tile backsplash. A custom cork memory wall with shelving holds pictures and artifacts from the client’s travels. An illuminated art nook area spotlights an Asian antique, while the stained glass cabinet door inserts with bamboo designs add a matching touch. The custom red oak radiator covers make this remodeled space feel like the rest of the house.

The Residential Addition $100,001 – $250,000 Gold Award-winning project was located in Cedarburg. The homeowners had the perfect wooded lot but wanted to increase the size of their home with a new living space. They ended up building a 2nd-floor addition which now includes three dormers, a great room, office space, bathroom with stainless roller barn door, kitchenette, and a balcony for awesome views of the woods and creek. The 18 windows flood the addition with light and the cork plank floor provides a natural look while also being comfortable on the feet.

The Residential Addition Over $250,000 Gold Award winner features a two-story home addition in Wauwatosa built for a growing family that needed more space and modern updates. The first floor now provides a 440 sq ft family room for entertainment needs as well as a mudroom. Connected to the family room is the renovated kitchen with a Wolf range top and quartz island for extra countertop space. The second floor provides a new 380 sq ft master suite addition with walk-in-closet. Also added was a convenient laundry room, and a bathroom for the children. The exterior also features a new pergola and a 430 sq ft garage.
